Power-equipment warehouses and production workshops increasingly need cranes that can identify, locate and move valuable equipment automatically rather than relying on repeated manual alignment. Box-type substations, cable reels and electrical materials can vary in size and storage position, so the crane must combine accurate motion, load recognition and warehouse data.
Henan Mine Crane customized two automated cranes for a national power project to handle box-type substation equipment and power cables. The referenced system combines VFD and PLC control, encoder feedback, Gray-bus positioning, 3D scanning, visual inspection, automatic grabbing, obstacle avoidance, anti-sway, WCS scheduling and WMS warehouse management.
In a conventional power warehouse, the crane operator must visually confirm the load, align the hook or lifting attachment and coordinate storage records separately. This becomes inefficient as the number of material locations grows and production requires traceable, repeatable handling.
An automated solution therefore needs more than a motorized crane. The lifting attachment, positioning system, vision sensors, warehouse database, safety logic and central control system must work together as one material-handling platform.
The referenced cranes use a VFD + PLC electrical control system. The hoisting mechanism includes encoder feedback, while bridge and trolley travel use Gray-bus positioning technology for accurate movement.
3D scanning and visual inspection support material recognition, intelligent positioning, automatic pickup and obstacle avoidance. The crane also includes anti-sway functions and an intelligent lifting attachment with detection switches to verify handling conditions.
A dedicated server in the central control room operates the WCS intelligent scheduling system and WMS warehouse-management system, allowing the complete material-handling process to be recorded and managed digitally.
